Salem Al Fakir is a 35 year old singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Stockholm, Sweden, who released three solo albums - his debut "This Is Who I Am" in January 2007; his second album "Astronaut" in March 2009; and his third album "Ignore This" in March 2010.
How would you begin to describe Salem's music? Incredibly diverse, with influences ranging from soul to jazz to classical to pop to rock to 70s/80s retro and even a bit of reggae and prog rock! You can't pigeonhole Salem's music - no two songs sound the same, but they are all wonderful examples of musical excellence with a timeless quality.
Although Salem is no longer making music as a solo artist, in recent years he has written and produced with a number of artists on different musical projects and has achieved international recognition for his work as songwriter and featured vocalist for Avicii and also Axwell and Ingrosso. He is currently one half of the duo Vargas and Lagola, along with his songwriting/production collaborator, the brilliant Vincent Pontare.

Yes they are such great and versatile musicians, and they have have a great understanding and interpretation of Salem's music too.
Hi, I know this comment has nothing to do with this post, but I want to thank you for maintaining such a great blog. I am so behind on checking Salem's progress, and I still need to get this current cd and the one he made last year. But one thing I know is that I can always come here and you will have the latest information. I am so glad you had another opportunity to see him live as well as meet him. I know that must have been wonderful. Well that is all I wanted to say, I hope you enjoy your summer.

Great to hear from you again - it's been such a long time. Hope you are well.
Of course I'm glad to play my part in helping you get up to date with all things Salem-related and there's much more to come. So much has happened over the last year that I'm always kept very busy with this blog, but I don't mind as I'm having so much fun doing it and I don't intend to stop.
And yes, seeing Salem play live and meeting him again was just out of this world!!
There are lots of live clips being posted over on YouTube these days from his various shows so that will give you an idea of what his new music sounds like.
