Berns, Stockholm tonight and tomorrow - discuss it here!

Are you ready? Are you excited? Are you going to one (or more) of Salem's homecoming gigs in Stockholm tonight and tomorrow? Then this is the place to talk about it - please leave your comments on the show here.

I'm particularly interested to know about the set list (maybe Damien Adore will make a guest appearance??) and also what you thought about the support act, Oskar Linnros (I'm looking forward to his debut solo album).

I'm so excited for all of you....and of course I wish I was there. It will be fantastic.

Good luck Salem and the band for tonight and tomorrow!

The concert was amazing. I've seen Salem like five times, and this was definitley the best on. It's great that he now has three great albums to pick songs from. The most special parts: Backseat, Purple lady (on a small stage at the back of the hall - with a string quartet) and the crowd knowing the lyrics of "I'm so happy". Such a great night:)

Thanks Sofia - I just know that you will be on such a high from the concert and it will take a long long time to come back down!

WOW!!!

I hope someone posts Backseat on YouTube - I need to hear that song played live!!

And he did "Purple Lady"??? With a
string quartet? Oh my God, can it get any better???

You were so very lucky to be there tonight...thanks for your review!!

/Laura.

Hej!
Wow, yes it was truly amazing ... I've basically just been sitting here by the computer all day today ;) Not a very good thing maybe, but it takes a while to collect all your impressions, and also have time to share them with other Salem-friends :)

I didn't film or photograph anything last night, just wanted to enjoy the present. Unfortunatly I enjoyed it so much that I'm not even sure of the set list, but I think I know at least which songs they played ... however, the order may be wrong ;) Here's what I remember:

Red Rock
Cold Shower
It's only you
Good Song
4 O'Clock
It's True
Virgin Mary

(From a small stage in the back, Salem on piano, now dressed in grey suit, and with a string quartet):

End
Purple Lady
This is who I am

(Salem walks through the audience back to the main stage!):

Dream Girl
Backseat
Keep On Walking

(Salem and band bows, walks out but gets back in for an encore):

I'm so happy

I'll give you a bit more info on specific songs later ...

Eva...thanks again, what a great set-list, a good mixture of the old and new.

When I saw Salem play live I was writing down the set-list as he sang each song, otherwise I wouldn't have remembered - too spellbound watching and listening to Salem and the band of course!

Just like you, I've been in front of the computer for the last couple of hours catching up with the pictures, videos, blog posts and anything else I could find. I hope there will be some Swedish press reviews too - if they can tear themselves away from writing about Lady Gaga of course :))) I wonder if anyone is going to see both Salem and Gaga this weekend?

Sorry, I'm a bit confused ... it wasn't "End"!!, I meant "Thank you" ... not even sure of that one, but at least there was another song with the quartet before Purple Lady :) Sorry for my confusion, I didn't take notes but was trying to remember ...

Just realised that two of my favourites were missing - "One of the Others" and "Twelve Fingers". I wouldn't really miss "Roxy" though, as Salem has many better songs.

What time did Salem and the band come on stage and how long did the show last for?

Oskar Linnros started at 9 pm as announced, he played until 9.30 and then there was a break while the instruments were arranged for Salem and his band. I think they came on around 9.45 or 10?, and played until maybe 11.30? But here I'm just guessing... I actually forgot to look at my watch :) Could have been shorter, too.

Unknown said...

Ah yes, he actually played Roxy too! Somewhere in the first part of the set :)

I read others comments after visiting Salems third consert. Just before Purple lady it was "Hymn" the song Salem wrought too his grandmother. All the consert was wonderful and the part with strings was extremly beautiful. I am so glad and feal that I want too share my feelings with You all. I belive that You Laura had enjoy this lovely evening with all people singing together with Salem in all songs. Thank You for all your work with PlanetSalem. Salems mother Inger

Hej Inger!
Vad trevligt det är att se dig skriva här :) Och du har naturligtvis rätt, det var "Hymn" som spelades även i lördags (första sången med stråkkvartetten).

/Of course, it was "Hymn" also on Saturday ... that is; the three songs in the string-quartet part were Hymn, Purple Lady and This is who I am.

I love Salem, he's such a talented and funny guy! I went on all 3 gigs and it was absolutely great, I had a blast, and Salem... gaaah! I loved 4 o'clock and Backseat! :)

But I was wondering if anybody noticed the harmonies in the end of "I'm so happy", coming from the back of the crowd? It was actually a choir, and I was in it :) So thank you to Salem for letting us sing with you!! Best weekend ever! :)

OMG!!!!!! AMAZIIIIING!!!! I just can't bring words. One of the best performances I've ever seen! I was aaaaall the way up front, just by the stage, just in front of Salem. Can't describe the amazing and assume feeling! Even though I'm ill, the concert was one of the greatest events of my life. Salems energy just grabbed everything. Only thing that sort of ruined it was when three girls (kind of drunk too) just had to (try) to push their way up front. From one moment to the other they "popped" out of nowhere. And the screamed (LOUDLY, my right ear was almost deaf at the end of the concert), and pushed. They even drowned Salems voice, which was the most annoying part. But Salem was too amazing for me to get angry or upset (oh well, I was a bit angry, but not extremely :P)
Anyway, I've uploaded a few clips. They're kind of good quality. No entire song though, just a few moments I felt was special ;) I arm fell asleep, plus I wanted to enjoy the concert not through a camera :P
Well, anyway! AMAZING!!
My user on Youtube: LinkinParkLiz, hope you find it :)

I saw the second concert on Berns yesterday and it was absolutely FANTASTIC: I´ve listen to Salem since his first record but this was the first time I had the opportunity to see him live. I was blown away by his music and musicality. And ENERGY!!! He played all my favourite songs - except for "One of the others".The songs played with the strings was delicate and breathtaking. And Salem - one chord can be enough (Brooklyn sun!).

I was there yesterday with a friend (17.00) and I can't say how happy I was after the gig, it was fantastic, but I was also sad that it was over :(...
I hope you will have some more concerts...
Thanks Salem (L)

Comment to Anette:
YES, I heard the harmonies on "I`m so happy" and sang along with it. My first thought was how talented audience Salems has!!! :-) I love these surprises - strings, choir.... The small details makes the bigger picture even better.
When Salem performed the songs on the small stage I couldn´t see him but I just closed my eyes and enjoyed the music. "Purple Lady" is one of my absolute favourite songs. The orchestral arrangement on the cd is sooooooo beautiful but the arrangement, as performed on Berns, with the pizzicatopart on the strings put the song in a new light - very naked and vulnerable - but still so wonderful.

Åsa - great!! It was awesome! I liked the fact that no one knew if it was the audience or a choir :)

I've found a video on Youtube from that moment on "I'm so happy". Warning though, the sound quality is pretty bad, but you can hear the choir. And the crowd's going "Who's singing, is it a choir?" Haha. I loved it! Amazing weekend!
