Yes I know I'm a bit early but I would like to wish all the readers of Planet Salem a very happy new year, and hope that 2010 brings you all good health and happiness.
Thanks to all of you for your support during the past year. It's been a fantastic year for this blog, and for me personally. I hope you will all continue to visit in 2010 which is guaranteed to be an exciting year as Salem continues his musical adventures. Planet Salem will be following his progress all the way through 2010.
Finally, Salem - I just want to thank you again for making 2009 such a special year for me, and I want to wish you and your family all the best for the new year ahead.
(By the way I can't wait to hear the new album and would love it if we could meet up again in Sweden next year!!)
Best wishes!!!
/Laura.

Happy new year Laura!
Thank you for your great site about Salem!I visit your site sometimes and I think that its a informative and ambitious homepage. I'm wondering how you discovered Salems music and how your interest in swedish culture began? Do you know some swedish bye now too?
You also seem to be such a genuinely friendly person just like Salem.
Best whishes for the new year!
Jenny
Hi Jenny! Glad you enjoy Planet Salem, I really enjoy doing this site and try and find as much information as I can, so I can update the blog regularly.
How did I get interested in Swedish culture? Well I guess it goes back to Abba winning the Eurovision Song Contest, and through watching Eurovision I also found out about Tomas Ledin, Bjorn Skifs and Ted Gardestad. I would read travel books about Sweden and dreamed of visiting your beautiful country. Of course that dream came true and I've visited Sweden three times - Gothenburg in 1996 and 2009, and Stockholm in 2007. I'm hoping to go back to Gothenburg again this year.
When the internet came along I started listening to Swedish radio stations and since then I've discovered lots of wonderful Swedish music. I follow Melodifestivalen every year and watch this on the internet. I also watch some Swedish TV shows on the internet, on the SVT and TV4 websites. That's how I discovered Salem, as I hadn't heard of him before July 2007. I was watching the "Grattis Kronprinsessan" concert on SVT's website, to see Mans Zelmerlow. Salem appeared on that show of course, and immediately I became a fan of his wonderful music.
I've been trying to learn Swedish, I know quite a few words but it will be a long time before I feel confident enough to speak Swedish :) I am better at translating, although still use Google Translate for most articles which I find on the internet.
Thank you for your lovely comments and I hope that you have a great new year. Carry on visiting and keep in touch!
Laura
