"Split My Personality" - Rix FM Veckans Hitvarning!

I'm a regular listener to Rix FM - it's one of my favourite Swedish pop radio stations and it just got better, with the news that "Split My Personality" has been chosen as the station's first "Veckans Hitvarning" of 2011. This means that the song will get lots of airplay on Rix FM! http://www.rixfm.com/musik/veckans-hitvarning

Hopefully the song will get lots of airplay on other radio stations too...talking of which, SR P4 recently published its list of its most played songs of 2010 - and "Keep On Walking" was the second most played song on the station last year. ("Monday Morning" by Melanie Fiona was no.1). http://radionytt.se/nyheter/?p=6580

One final piece of radio news - Salem will be the special guest on Mix Megapol's "Äntligen Morgon" which returns on Monday 10th January. http://www.mixmegapol.se/on-air/antligen-morgon

"Keep On Walking" = Most played song of the year!

6946 good reasons to celebrate today: At the annual Radiogalan which took place on 29th September, "Keep On Walking" took the prize for the year's most played song on Swedish radio. The song has been played 6946 times this year on the radio...almost as many times as I've played it :))

Stort grattis Salem!!! Congratulations and well done! It's very appropriate that the best song of the year is also the most-played.

The second most played song was "Dancing On My Own" by Robyn and third was Darin's version of "Viva La Vida". It proves that in 2010, Swedish radio stations have the best taste in music!

Swedish charts update / Radio Airplay Chart

After 18 weeks on the Sverige Topplistan album chart, "Ignore This" stays at no. 27 this week. I'm sure the album will climb the charts again after Salem appears on Allsång next Tuesday!

Meanwhile "Keep On Walking" is climbing the Swedish airplay charts once again. The song has of course been one of the most played songs on Swedish radio since March 2010 and this week has climbed back up to no.5 (from last week's no.6) in the Nielsen Music Control Airplay Chart.

Swedish charts update

I forgot to mention yesterday that "Keep On Walking" has climbed back up to no.2 from last week's no.4, in the SR Tracks chart. So, as usual, it's time to rösta, rösta, rösta! Vote at http://sverigesradio.se/cgi-bin/p3/tracks/index.asp?taskid=1 - voting closes at 14:00 tomorrow.

Good news as "Keep On Walking" is still at no.1 in the Mix Megapol Mix Topp 20 chart this week - vote at http://www.mixmegapol.se/program/mix-topp-20 to keep Salem at the top of next week's chart!

In today's P3 Digilistan chart, "Keep On Walking" has slipped from no.11 to no.17 - and "4 O'Clock" is a new entry at no.48. http://sverigesradio.se/p3/topplistor/hitlistan/

The best news of course is that "Keep On Walking" remains the most played song on all Swedish radio stations over the past week - go to http://radionytt.se/nyheter/wp-content/uploads/rnm100507.pdf for the Nielsen Airplay Chart and a full listing of all the radio playlists. I guess it won't be long before "4 O'Clock" will be on the A-list playlists!!

"Virgin Mary" is no.1 on the Radio Creme Brulee chart!!

Got an email today from our good friend Pranav at our favourite internet radio station Radio Creme Brulee...with the good news that "Virgin Mary" has made it to no.1 in their weekly top 20 chart. This chart is based on listeners' ratings of the new tracks played on the station, so it's obvious that the listeners have excellent taste!!

(And it's not the only Salem song in their chart - the fantastic "One Of The Others" is at no.8!)

Check out this week's chart at http://www.radiocremebrulee.com/index.php?pr=Creme_Brulee_Weekly_Top_20

What this also proves, yet again, is that Salem's music clearly has international appeal: so thanks yet again Pranav for spreading the word and bringing Salem's music to Boston and to the wider world!

Radio Creme Brulee: spreading the word about Salem!

I would like to share this email with you all, which I received just the other day from Pranav who runs the internet radio station Radio Creme Brulee, and which I have kindly been given permission to republish here.

Hi,

I am an internet music radio broadcaster based in Boston (USA). My radio station is called "Radio Creme Brulee" (http://www.radiocremebrulee.com/). It features an eclectic assortment of current pop/rock music from both sides of the Atlantic alongside guilty pleasures, forgotten gems, and radio hits from the 80s, 90s, and 00s. While most of my listeners are based in the US, there is a substantial number of listeners from the France, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Germany, Argentina, Costa Rica, Japan, and Spain. My station is licensed by ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC. Artists receive royalties based on airplay of their music on my station.

I recently discovered Salem Al Fakir and his music and stumbled on your excellent blog about him recently. Salem does not receive much promotion in the US. Hence, we only recently discovered him and his musical brilliance. His songs, if promoted well in the US, could be modern day classics. He belongs to a rather rare breed of exceptionally talented musicians. Unfortunately, when he released "This is who I am" in 2007, I did not hear about it at all. Hence, as playlist manager, I was unable to give any of the tracks on that album high-rotation airplay. I typically only give tracks that are less than a year old high-rotation airplay. I recently discovered Salem's 2009 album "Astronaut". Despite the album having been released in 2009, it still meets our "less than a year old" requirement for high-rotation airplay. Hence, we just added "One Of The Others" for high-rotation airplay on Radio Creme Brulee. That basically means the track is getting 4-5 plays a day and will continue to do so for at least 2 months.

I will go ahead and add your blog to the list of "Recommended Links" within the next two days. Meanwhile, if you get a chance, please do check out our radio station. To listen, log on to
http://www.radiocremebrulee.com/

We do feature tracks off the "This is who I am" album. There is currently a "radio hold" on the new single "Keep On Walking" until February 27 so we might have to wait a while before it makes its debut on American internet radio. If you have suggestions for the radio station (specific artists, specific songs, or just general recommendations), please feel free to let me know. If and when you hear "One Of The Others" on the station, please click on the "thumbs up" button next to the track on the online radio player. If you like the station, please do let your friends know about it.

Last, but not least, I enjoy your reading your blog on Salem Al Fakir.

Regards,
Pranav

Thanks Pranav - much appreciated!! We need more people like you to spread the word, worldwide, about Salem's music.

"Roxy": P3 playlist news

"Roxy" is still on the P3 radio playlist and is B-listed this week.

I don't think it's going to make the Swedish singles chart now, despite all the recent promotion/TV appearances :)

I wonder if there will be any more singles released from "Astronaut"? Does anyone know?

"Roxy" now A-listed on Swedish Radio P3's playlist!

Very good news - P3 have A-listed "Roxy". I'm very happy about this.

As you know, I live outside Sweden, but often listen to Swedish radio stations on the internet. I know that P3 have always been very supportive of Salem's music, however I wish that more Swedish radio stations would play his music, and spend less time playing the same old songs which are played on radio stations all over the world - Pink, Rihanna, Beyonce...etc etc.

"Astronaut" on Norwegian radio playlist

I don't have much news to report today apart from finding out that "Astronaut" has been added to Norwegian radio NRK P3's playlist. It has been C-listed this week but we hope it will be A-listed soon.

Before I go, something personal and off-topic: if you're out there Darkfairy, please get in touch - missing you!!
